For the 2020 calendar year, the 8 Hour FL and MN SAFE Comprehensive: Continuing Education Course through Larson Educational Services will be offered as a live online streaming webinar course. Course Description

This course is designed to ensure students understand the Federal laws, such as RESPA, ECOA and TILA, in order to operate legally and ethically. Students will learn the requirements for delivery of the Integrated Disclosures, and general requirements for the Closing Disclosure. We’ll explain how the CFPB supervises and examines financial service providers, and how to recognize types of mortgage fraud schemes and crimes. We’ll also cover the FL-OFR and MN-DOC defined topics.

We will be utlizing a streaming education platform called REcampusLIVE, which can host up to 100 attendees at one time. The platform allows for synchronous audio and video presentation, as well as a chat box feature for communication between students, instructors, and facilitators. Our video presentation component will include a live feed of our instructor as well as the PowerPoint slides. Attendance Verification

The verifying of full attendance of our students will be accomplished with multiple features.

  1. REGISTRATION:
    All students will have to register individually to attend the class, using their full name, phone number and email address. Each student will receive a personal event attendance URL. Students are not allowed to share this personal URL and there can only be one participant within a session using this URL.
     
  2. LOG IN:
    Students must log in to the class no more than 20 minutes after the class start time. We can not provide credit to students who log in later than 20 minutes after start time.
     
  3. ONGOING MONITORING:
    Our streaming platform has a feature called “Presence Manager” that allows for automatic reminders to students to ensure they are still present in the class and includes automatic logouts based on certain parameters. We will confirm presence 2-3 times per hour. Students who have 2 or more logouts will not receive credit. NMLS does not allow for partial credit to be given so any student who has 2 or more logouts during the 8 hour course will have to complete the entire 8 hour course on another class date.
     
  4. END-OF-COURSE ASSESSMENT:
    Our 25-question final exam will be administered utilizing the “polling” feature in the REcampusLIVE platform. This will allow us to display each question individually, allow students to read and then answer the question within 15-30 seconds. If the poll shows that 100% of students got the question correct, we will simply move on to the next question. If we see incorrect answers selected, the instructor will quickly review the question content to further the understanding of the students regarding the question topic. This should take about 20 minutes to facilitate.

LarsonEd Campus and Classroom Reopening Schedule

CAMPUSES REOPEN ON JULY 6

We’re happy to announce that both office locations, Fort Myers and Naples, will reopen with full staff on Monday, July 6. General student visits will be welcomed at that time.

CLASSROOM COURSES RESUME JULY 11

Classroom courses will resume beginning July 11. Seating will be limited to 50% capacity, and tables and chairs will be spread out to allow for social distancing. Students will also have “assigned seating” so that they can sit in the same chair each day. 

Additionally, courses will be taught with a “hybrid curriculum”. This means that 1/2 of the instruction will take place on campus in a classroom and the other 1/2 of the instruction will take place online. The classroom session will be taught in the morning and the online session will be conducted in the afternoon on our instructor-led video platform, LarsonLIVE. Evening classes will alternate every other night between classroom and online. 

This “hybrid” style of instruction not only minimizes the amount of time students are on campus and interacting with each other and staff, but also offers maximum flexibility for students to complete the required education because they can do the online portion at home and on their own time.

LarsonLIVE ON DEMAND INSTRUCTOR-LED COURSES

We are looking forward to being back in the classroom and seeing students again on campus, but we will have to wait patiently until we reopen in July.

We now have a number of our courses available in our online LarsonLIVE platform and our student feedback has been outstanding. The courses are instructor-led with Larson instructors, video based and can be completed on your own schedule. We’ve already heard from many students who have passed their licensing exams or have successfully renewed their license by taking a LarsonLIVE course.

As always, your tuition for a LarsonLIVE online instructor-led course is valid for a 1-year time period so if you decide that you want to attend a classroom course at a later time, you can do so for no additional charge.

  2. REAL ESTATE LICENSE RENEWAL DATE EXTENDED TO JUNE 1

    On April 30, the DBPR announced that they are extending the license renewal date to June 1 for those who originally had a March 31 date, which was subsequently extended to April 30. As of April 30, there were approximately 17,000 real estate license holders in Florida who had not yet renewed.

EXCITING UPDATE from LarsonEd: We are currently working on getting all of our classroom courses DBPR approved for “Live Streaming.” What this means is that even if our students are not able to physically attend class at our Fort Myers or Naples campus, they’d be able to complete their education while still experiencing our awesome instructors and curriculum in real time! COVID-19 UPDATE: Impact on LarsonEd classes and hours

If you are registered for a classroom course in March or are already attending one, you may be wondering if class will be held. The short answer is yes. We are closely following the recommendations from the CDC and our local health authorities.

For all remaining classes through March 31, we are capping our class enrollments to 2/3 of our classroom capacity to allow for more space between students. This means that we will have no more than 40 students in any class, when we can normally accommodate about 70.

In addition to capping our class enrollments, our facilities are sanitized with disinfectant at the end of each day. Throughout the day our team continues to circulate the facilities wiping down handles, counters, and doors. We also are making available sanitizer wipes and hand sanitizers for student use.

We’re encouraging sick students and team members to stay home if they exhibit any illness symptoms, including the common cold, flu or coronavirus. 

As always, our enrollment policy is very flexible and your tuition payment is valid for one year. The CFRM designation is earned by completing a two-day course covering in detail the practical and legal aspects of leasing and managing single-family and small residential investment properties. Passing of a final exam is also required to earn the CFRM designation. Holders of a Florida real estate license earned 11 hours of continuing education credit toward their biennial license renewal by attending the class.

Written by Florida law expert, Rick Larson, and taught by property management expert, Lee Ann Levesque, the course includes detailed coverage of 15 Florida property management laws, including – Residential Landlord and Tenant Act, Property Management Escrow Accounts, and Vacation Rentals. Additionally, the roles of a Florida property manager are discussed through examples and practical, hands-on training.

The Florida 16 Hour CAM Pre-License Course at Larson Educational Services is the 16-hour required education to obtain your Florida Community Association Manager (CAM) license. You’ll learn about the Florida CAM licensing requirements, CAM responsibilities, and CAM liabilities and standards of conduct. 

A Florida CAM License is required when managing an association of more than 10 units and/or has an annual budget in excess of $100,000. Types of properties that hire CAM License holders are mobile home parks, planned unit developments, homeowners associations, cooperatives, timeshares, condominiums, or other residential units which are authorized to impose a fee that may become a lien on the parcel.

Typical responsibilities of a Florida CAM Licensee are:

  1. controlling or disbursing association funds;
  2. determining how or when to prepare budgets or other financial documents for an association;
  3. determining how or when to provide notice of meetings or to conduct association meetings;
  4. maintaining and/or having authorization to spend association petty cash;
  5. coordinating maintenance for the residential development; and
  6. performing other day-to-day services involved with the operation of a community association.

Complete the 16 Hour Florida CAM Pre-License Course at Larson Educational Services and receive 8 Hours of continuing education credit to apply toward your real estate license renewal. This course is approved for 8 Hours of Specialty Credit.

As a newly licensed Florida real estate professional, you are required to complete post-licensing education prior to your first license renewal date. Depending on when you received your license, your first renewal date will be between 18 and 24 months after your licensure date.
